When the Empire State Building joined Martin Garrix‘s growing record of iconic stream locations at the end of October, a total of eight unidentified tracks tagged along. One of those IDs—Firebeatz‘s “Lose My Sh!t”—had already stepped out of the anonymous shadows before 2022 came to a close, and now STMPD RCRDS has gone ahead and unlocked not one, but two more sought-after tracks that were debuted in New York City in Magnificence‘s “Rebel Nation” and JONAH‘s “Shakes.”
“Rebel Nation” marks both Magnificence’s return to STMPD RCRDS—after “Hallucinate“—and to the release ring for the first time since June 2022. Employing his own, reggae-inspired vocals, “Rebel Nation” anchors itself down on a gritty hybrid of the past and present of both electro- and bass-house that builds off the direction from Magnificence’s label debut and drives it down a darker lane.
And as for “Shakes”—the very first of the eight IDs in Garrix’s Big Apple set—JONAH joins the STMPD RCRDS family in fitting fashion with just his third-ever original. “Shakes” was given a second chance after JONAH originally didn’t receive any feedback from Garrix, with him resending the aptly named, lively bass-house weapon in a folder of additional new music, leading to Garrix immediately adding it to the front of his ID-loaded hour in New York City. And it’s a more than auspicious STMPD RCRDS introduction for JONAH as Garrix continues to make it a set staple moving forward.
