Carlos Santana has been hospitalised in Texas after suffering what doctors believe is a dehydration-related medical issue. The legendary guitarist, who’s currently on his Oneness Tour 2025, had to cancel his San Antonio concert at the Majestic Theatre on Tuesday night after falling ill backstage. At 77, Santana’s still electrifying crowds, but this sudden health scare has fans on edge.
A rep confirmed to TMZ that Carlos was taken from the venue by ambulance and is currently under medical observation. While further tests are being done, doctors initially suspect it was dehydration that triggered the emergency. Thankfully, his team says he’s doing well and is optimistic about returning to the stage soon. Still, his upcoming shows on the tour are now up in the air, with no confirmation on whether they’ll continue as planned.
This isn’t the first health hiccup Santana has faced recently. Just a few months ago, in January, he was forced to postpone part of his Las Vegas residency after breaking a finger during an accidental fall at his Hawaii home. That injury required pins to be inserted in his left hand, keeping him off the guitar for weeks. His manager, Michael Vrionis, assured fans then that Carlos would make a full recovery, and he did. But it’s clear that 2025 has been testing the rock icon’s resilience.
Longtime fans will also remember when Santana collapsed onstage in Michigan back in May 2022 due to heat exhaustion and, again, dehydration. At the time, he reassured everyone with a Facebook post explaining he simply forgot to eat and drink water, and needed to take things slow. Six tour dates were postponed after that incident.
Now with this latest hospitalisation, fans are sending prayers and well-wishes, hoping for another quick recovery. While Santana may be pushing through the years, he’s proven time and again that he’s got the spirit to keep playing. Whether or not he returns to the stage this week, health clearly comes first, and fans are willing to wait as long as it takes.
