Chico and James DeBarge Arrested on Possession of Controlled Substance

Chico DeBarge has once again found himself in legal trouble. The artist was arrested alongside James DeBarge on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance this past Friday in Burbank, California.

According to reports from NBC 4 Los Angeles, the incident occurred following a traffic stop initiated by law enforcement. Authorities stopped the pair after observing a Chevy Tahoe towing a Nissan SUV at approximately 1:30 a.m. Neither vehicle displayed license plates, prompting the investigation. James DeBarge was identified as the driver of the Chevy, while Chico DeBarge was operating the Nissan. Both men were subsequently arrested after officers discovered narcotics at the scene.

This latest arrest adds to a history of legal challenges for Chico DeBarge. In 2021, he was taken into custody for the possession of methamphetamine. During that incident, TMZ reported that police were called to a motorhome where they discovered the vehicle’s registration had been expired for six months. Upon impounding the vehicle, officers found both methamphetamine and various items of drug paraphernalia. Throughout his career, DeBarge has faced similar charges, with previous arrests for drug possession recorded in 2007, late 2019, and early 2021.
