Prosecutors in the criminal case against reality television personality Sidney Starr are asking a Fulton County judge to prevent the sexual history of her 13-year-old accuser from being introduced in court as the defense prepares for her upcoming arraignment. According to court documents, prosecutors filed a rape-shield motion on August 27, seeking to keep evidence concerning the alleged victim’s prior sexual activity out of the proceedings unless it meets specific exceptions under Georgia law.
The filing is a standard evidentiary request and does not imply that the defense has already attempted to introduce such information. Sidney Starr, legally known as Sidney Favors, was arrested on August 2 following an alleged encounter with the teenager at an Embassy Suites in Hapeville, Georgia. The 37-year-old Love & Hip Hop: New York personality faces felony charges, including aggravated child molestation, sodomy, and sexual battery. She remains in the Fulton County Jail and has consistently denied the allegations.
During an August 25 bond hearing, prosecutors detailed their case, alleging that the teenager was in the hotel lobby before accompanying Starr to her room. While Starr has maintained that the teen represented himself as 18 years old, authorities and the boy’s family assert he is 13. The judge ultimately denied bond, citing concerns over Starr’s status as a flight risk and the potential for witness intimidation given her significant social media presence.
The teenager’s mother also addressed the court, stating that her son has required extensive therapy following the incident. As the case moves forward, the rape-shield motion highlights the legal complexities surrounding the upcoming trial. Georgia’s rape-shield protections are designed to restrict the introduction of an alleged victim’s sexual history in cases involving sexual offenses, subject to judicial oversight. Starr is scheduled to return to court on September 3 for her plea and arraignment.
