Halifax-based producer Cloverdale returns to Insomniac’s IN/ROTATION offshoot with his fifth appearance via his new tech house single, “DOPE.”
Cloverdale is a hot export from Canada that has been blurring the lines between house and techno with his signature high-octane style in which energy reigns supreme. “DOPE” finds him ramping up the bpm to create a fast-paced house cut fueled by dark rave stabs, hardgroove synth leads, ringing bell samples, pummeling percussion, and a red-hot vocal loop driving the momentum ever-forward.
Cloverdale shares insights on his new single, stating, “This track was the first track I wrote at the start of 2024. I wanted to start the year with a fresh slate and a tune that was 100 percent the sound I’ve been loving lately: this European-influenced, faster 140 bpm high octane rave music. This one came together super quickly, with the classic rave sounds feeling so strong and the vocal adding so much energy—everything fell into place just right. I tested it out live a couple times and the response has been huge. I think folks are excited to hear something new and I’m stoked to deliver.”
Having previously released on IN / ROTATION alongside Eleganto via his collaborative three-track ‘Looking Back’ EP, Cloverdale garnered attention from House Nation, EDM Identity, and EKM, while receiving radio support from industry heavyweights like Don Diablo, Tomo Hirata, Eddy.T, and Future Class. His tracks have also earned acclaim from dance icons, such as Tchami, Malaa, James Hype, AFROJACK, ACRAZE, Vintage Culture, and Oliver Heldens.
Beyond his studio successes, Cloverdale continues to make a splash in the live scene, recently playing a headline slot at MTL En Lumiere Festival and co-headlining with Tres Mortimer at Soundcheck D.C. He also has an upcoming festival performance at Parc Jean-Drapeau, and a gig at Warehouse215.
