David Guetta & OneRepublic Reveal Emotive Acoustic Version Of Hit Single ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’

Global pop superstar David Guetta and Grammy-nominated OneRepublic share an acoustic version of the smash-hit single, ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’, out on 28th June.

This intimate take on the dance-pop original – an instant Guetta classic – takes the focus away from the dancefloor, introducing gentle acoustic guitar and sweeping cello strings, resulting in an altogether stripped-back, emotive rendition.

‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’, has skyrocketed to success since its April release. By June, it garnered 250 million global streams and 21 million in the UK, the track also broke into Spotify’s Global Chart at #33. The single has also achieved #1 across European airplay and #1 Dance Radio in the US, as well as a Top 10 single in the Belgium Official Charts.

Shortly following the release of ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’, which features the unmistakable vocals of OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder, fans were gifted with a music video in late April. Sitting at 28M video views, it was shot at Ultra Music Festival and captures the epic moment Guetta and Tedder premiered the song live to some 60,000 festival-goers, paired with a heartwarming coming together of two romantic ravers.

It’s been a whirlwind two years for David Guetta, who now counts himself as one of the most-streamed artists to date globally. In 2023, the French dance icon released ‘Baby Don’t Hurt Me’ featuring Anne-Marie and Coi Leray, resulting in over 700 million streams. This track followed the massive success of ‘I’m Good (Blue)’ featuring Bebe Rexha, a global Spotify #1 that earned Guetta his eleventh Grammy nomination for ‘Best Dance/Electronic Recording’. It amassed a colossal 2.7 billion global streams, topping official charts in 11 markets and reaching #1 on both the US Top 40 and US Dance Radio charts.

The producer/DJ is keeping the momentum going in 2024, having headlined Capital FM’s Summertime Ball on 16th June, a show that coincided with the opening of his two Ibiza residencies, Future Rave at Hï Ibiza and his legendary F*** Me I’m Famous! party at Ushuaïa Ibiza, now in its 23rd year. This year he also continues his residency in Las Vegas and, as you’d expect, has a jam-packed tour diary playing the world’s biggest festivals and events.

Alongside the anthemic ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’, Guetta’s been busy in the studio. In May, he shared the bumping collaborative house track ‘Kill The Vibe’ with Danish duo MORTEN and Prophecy, followed by one of the most unexpected hits of the Summer, ‘Man In Finance’, a TikTok-proof take on the 2010-launched ‘Like A G6’ instrumental by Far East Movement. Contrastingly, the French producer’s remix of Shaboozey’s ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ is a party-starting country dance hoedown.

OneRepublic is a band that’s effortlessly dominated the global pop charts with hits such as ‘I Ain’t Worried’ and ‘Counting Stars’ (now at four billion YouTube views). Made up of frontman Ryan Tedder, guitarists Zach Filkins and Drew Brown, Brian Willett on keys, bassist/cellist Brent Kutzle and drummer Eddie Fisher, their 2007 debut album ‘Dreaming Out Loud’ featured the Grammy-nominated single ‘Apologize’, which racked up 20 million sales. Even more impressively, the band now has around five billion overall streams on Spotify.

‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’ vocalist Ryan Tedder has been having a real moment as of late, not just on the mic but also as a producer and songwriter working with the likes of Taylor Swift, Tate McRae, Adele, Justin Timberlake, Karol G, Ed Sheeran, BLACKPINK, U2 and more. He also contributed to Beyoncé’s earth-quaking March album COWBOY CARTER, on the track ‘II Most Wanted’ featuring Miley Cyrus.

This mellow acoustic version of ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’ by David Guetta and OneRepublic comes just in time for the peak of summer, as both parties begin a season full of exciting shows at huge venues. Stripping away the electronic elements made for sold-out festival stages, this version of the track makes for dancing in a more intimate setting, however, amplifying the emotive elements of the track that pull at the heartstrings.
