Network heads at Fox believe that Nick Cannon’s apology was enough to keep him on as host of ‘The Masked Singer.’ The network released a statement on their decision to keep Cannon on the top rated program.
“When we were made aware of Nick Cannon’s interview with Richard Griffin on YouTube, we immediately began a dialogue with Nick,” Fox said in a statement.
“He is clear and remorseful that his words were wrong and lacked both understanding and context, and inadvertently promoted hate… On that basis and given a belief that this moment calls for dialogue, we will move forward with Nick and help him advance this important conversation, broadly.”
Since receiving the backlash, Nick has made an effort to educate himself more on Jewish culture and has continued to apologize for the “hateful propaganda” he promoted on his platform.
The now former host of MTV’s Wild N Out was ousted from ViacomCBS on Wednesday after clips from his podcast made its rounds on social media. Despite Nick’s apology, ViacomCBS felt it best to move forward without Nick Cannon.
In Nick’s “Cannon’s Class” podcast from June 30, the 39-year-old cited common conspiracy theories about Jewish people “controlling everything” while co-signing comments that his interviewee Richard Griffin said about Jewish people being “wicked.”
Many prominent members of the Black community have defended Nick after the firing. Diddy took to social media to offer Nick an opportunity at his network Revolt.
