On April 23, 2020, the Hip-Hop community was saddened by the untimely loss of one of its beloved New York artist; Fred the Godson. Born, Frederick Thomas, the Bronx rapper passed away due to complications from the Coronavirus at the age of 41. A husband and father of two beautiful daughters, Sadie and Sophia, Fred had a vision for his children and community. And so the journey begins; a living legacy, the launch of the Fred the Godson Foundation.

A South Bronx native, Fred the Godson always had a vision for his community. Experiencing poverty growing up, helped him see the youth through relatable eyes. His resilient nature sanctified the mastering of adversity. An inspirational artist and songwriter, Fred was dedicated to and aspired to bring his community up with him. Reaching national fame in 2011, he continued to make his hometown proud through his ingenuity. Fred would participate in yearly back to school events, food and clothing drives, domestic violence awareness events and more. He mentored aspiring artists as well as at risk youth, inspiring them to stay dedicated to their passion. That spirit will remain a shining attribute of his legacy with the launch of the Fred the Godson Foundation.
Fred the Godson Foundation’s mission is to inspire, empower and nourish individuals, children and families in underserved communities, starting with Fred’s birthplace, the Bronx. The foundation will foster community unity through the common pursuit of wellness, prosperity and opportunity.
Tune in today, July 1, 2020 from 6:00PM-8:00PM, the Fred the Godson Foundation will launch with an Instagram LIVE virtual fundraiser event. The launch will serve as the official fundraiser kick off for Frederico’s House, an intergenerational community center that will serve the South Bronx community in honor of Fred the Godson.
Frederico’s House will bring all generations together in order to foster positive youth development, community engagement and empowerment. The center will cater to the entire community and encourages physical fitness, creativity and overall wellness. From financial and credit education, a recording studio, childcare and performing arts room, Frederico’s House will offer a wide array of programs and activities to his community.
A master of wordplay and a pioneer of punchlines, Fred has collaborated with artists such as Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Pusha T, Raekwon and more. He has made appearances with Mary J. Blige, Diddy, Kevin Gates, Meek Mill and many others. Special invited guests will join us for the launch of the foundation via his Instagram LIVE via @FredtheGodsonMusic. Loved by many, celebrities, community leaders and influencers will share words and memories of Fred, while offering their support towards the fundraising efforts for the opening of Frederico’s House.
