Miley Cyrus’ Tribeca 2025 premiere is officially happening, and it’s set to steal the spotlight. Her new visual album – Something Beautiful, will debut at the festival running from June 4 to June 15 in New York. Miley co-directed and co-wrote the film with Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter, and it’s produced by Panos Cosmatos (Beyond the Black Rainbow). The project is being called a “one-of-a-kind pop opera” and features 13 original tracks from her upcoming album of the same name.
After the screening, Miley will join in for a conversation about the project. So if you’ve been dying to hear about her creative process straight from her, now’s your chance. This premiere isn’t just about the music-it’s a full-on Miley experience.
The festival itself is seriously stacked. It opens with Billy Joel: So It Goes, a documentary diving deep into the life of the New York legend. Directed by Susan Lacy and Jessica Levin, it’s packed with never-seen-before footage and intimate interviews that trace Billy Joel’s journey from his Long Island roots to becoming one of America’s most iconic songwriters.
Tribeca’s also bringing the noise with music docs on Counting Crows, Culture Club, Billy Idol, and Becky G. Expect exclusive performances after the premieres-yes, live music right after the films. Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder will be there too, alongside other big names like Demi Lovato, who stars in Tow with Rose Byrne and Octavia Spencer, and RZA from Wu-Tang Clan, who’s debuting One Spoon of Chocolate.
More musical moments? Metallica shows up in Metallica Saved My Life, Depeche Mode in M, WizKid in Long Live Lagos, and Ty Dolla $ign in Still Free TC. All of them are expected to stick around for post-screening convos with fans and press. It’s basically the Avengers of music at Tribeca this year.
The festival also shines a spotlight on the roots of house music in Move Ya Body: The Birth of House, followed by a dance party featuring legends like Lady D and Celeste Alexander. Add in Anderson .Paak’s K-pop comedy K-Pops!, and Logic’s film Paradise Records, and you’ve got a full-blown genre-smashing lineup.
Other must-sees include I Was Born This Way, the story behind the first-ever gay anthem. Expect appearances from Lady Gaga, Dionne Warwick, Questlove, and Billy Porter. This year’s lineup isn’t just about music-it’s about identity, creativity, and full-on self-expression.
Tribeca co-founder Jane Rosenthal summed it up perfectly: “Tribeca has always been more than a festival-it’s a home for artists navigating an ever-changing industry and an ever-changing world.” And with Miley Cyrus front and center this year, the energy is going to be unreal.
