Los Angeles-based phenom Pauline Herr makes her return to Lost In Dreams Records with her sophomore single, “Fault Line,” recruiting the help of the multi-talented artist Marlhy, blending elements of trance, melodic bass and techno for a seismic offering.
Known for toggling between producer, singer and songwriter, Pauline Herr has become a powertrain for the melodic dance scene. For her follow-up appearance on the Lost In Dreams imprint, she’s roping in the vocal talents of another well-rounded sensation from LA, multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter Marlhy. “Fault Line” is an earth-shattering track, with Marlhy’s velvety topline dealing with the tectonic shift from a failing romance. The emotions are amplified with melancholic chords that lead into a color bass build with rippling melodic techno riffs, vocoded synths, and sparkling chimes splitting the earth in two before transmuting into an epic trance climax.
Sharing the empowering and cathartic story behind the making of the track, Pauline Herr says: “‘Fault Line’ is a really special track to me because it’s my first time working with a female vocalist and I’m such a fan of Marlhy’s work. I originally wasn’t planning on having a full vocal on this song, but I showed it to Marlhy, and her vocal brought it to life. This song represents the hurt and anger that come towards the end of a relationship.”
Pauline Herr is the heiress of the melodic dance realm, leaving her stamp on various genres including trap, future bass, techno, trance, and beyond. She debuted on Lost In Dreams Records with her single “Lightyears” last year, receiving radio support from industry giants like Illenium, Alison Wonderland, Zeds Dead, and ARMNHMR. She’s also coming off a massive collaboration with NGHTMRE and Jon Casey via “In Your Eyes,” pulled from the former’s ‘UNSOUND 2’ EP on Gud Vibrations. Beyond her string of successes in the studio, she is embarking on her debut headline tour and is hosting a run of festival dates, including Beyond Wonderland PNW, S20 Hong Kong, Creamfields Shenzhen China, Breakaway Festival, and special guest support for San Holo’s Existential Dance Music show. In May, she performed on kineticFIELD, the mainstage at the renowned EDC Las Vegas.
Unafraid and always forthright, multi-instrumentalist Marlhy has been carving out her own lane. Her music shines a light back on musicianship, and the talents she’s honed since childhood. Noted as, “the next alternative act you need to know,” Marlhy is a seasoned singer, songwriter, musician and forward-thinking artist whose talent has beget collaborations with artists such as Kellin Quinn (Sleeping with Sirens), Duke & Jones, NGHTMRE and Virtual Riot.
“By being honest and vulnerable about my own struggles, I hope people feel empowered to get through theirs,” says Marlhy. “I want people to know they aren’t alone and have the strength to overcome anything.”
With “Fault Line,” Pauline Herr provides a powerful display of her talent in delivering emotional experiences, all while causing a mighty quake across multiple genres and styles like she’s executed flawlessly throughout her career.
