According to reports, the veteran lawmaker died following a brief and sudden illness. Emergency responders were called to his Washington, D.C. residence at approximately 8:30 p.m. following reports of chest pains, but he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter despite attempts to revive him.
Senator Graham leaves behind a legacy spanning over two decades on Capitol Hill. Known for his shifting political alliances, he began his career as a close associate of the late Arizona Senator John McCain before becoming a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump and the MAGA movement. In his final years, he remained a vocal advocate for U.S. involvement in international affairs, particularly regarding support for Israel and Ukraine.
Before his lengthy tenure in the Senate, Graham served in the U.S. Air Force and worked as a defense attorney. At the time of his passing, he was actively campaigning for a fifth term in the upcoming midterm elections.
Following the news of his death, President Donald Trump paid tribute to the late senator on Truth Social, stating, “Senator Lindsey Graham, one of the greatest people and Senators I have ever known, is dead!
