Vance Joy Joins Shouse for Tearjerker Track ‘Wherever You Are’

Melbourne electronic duo SHOUSE are trading club bangers for heartbreak on their new single with Vance Joy, “Wherever You Are.”

Out now via Hell Beach/One Love, this emotional collab is the final track ahead of their debut album, Collective Ecstasy, dropping July 4, and it’s a stunner.

Instead of the usual dance floor vibes, this one leans all the way into vulnerability. Think dreamy electronica meets warm folk and a touch of choral soul. SHOUSE’s signature layered choir builds a cushion around Vance Joy’s rich, aching vocals. The result? A soft, tender track about love, memory, and the people we still carry with us long after they’re gone.

“This song is for the love of your life, the one you aren’t with anymore, but never really let go of,” SHOUSE’s Jack Madin explained. That exact feeling runs deep through the lyrics and production, and when Vance Joy sings, you feel it. “When I heard it, I immediately connected,” he said. “It flowed out so purely in the studio.”

It’s a surprising but powerful shift from SHOUSE’s recent singles. Earlier this year, they dropped “Call My Name,” wrapping up their “Love Tonight” trilogy with a bang. That track got major European airplay, just like their Felix Jaehn collab, “Walk With Me,” which has already crossed 500K Shazams and taken over EU radio. But this new single shows a softer, more reflective side, and fans are here for it.

All of these tracks feed into Collective Ecstasy, a project born from community, emotion, and experimentation. Mostly crafted in Melbourne with creative input from around the globe, the album promises both club highs and emotional lows. It’s about connection, not just music.

That ethos came to life last week at SHOUSE Communitas, their one-of-a-kind music event as part of Melbourne’s RISING Festival. No stage, no audience, just hundreds of people singing together, wrapped in sound. It was pure musical democracy and perfectly captured what SHOUSE is all about: shared experience.

If you’ve been following their journey since the breakout success of “Love Tonight,” you know SHOUSE isn’t just another electronic act. That song was a global phenomenon, Top 10 in over 20 countries, Platinum in the US and UK, Triple Platinum in Australia, and Diamond in France. And with over a billion streams, it’s clear these guys know how to move people, whether on a packed dance floor or in a moment of personal reflection.

And for Vance Joy, this isn’t just a feature, it’s a perfect fit. His voice, known for emotional tracks like “Riptide” and “Lay It On Me,” glides through “Wherever You Are” with a quiet power. It’s no wonder he felt such a strong connection to the song, it sounds like something he was meant to sing.

“Wherever You Are” is a track for late nights, long drives, and quiet moments. If you’re missing someone, thinking about the past, or just in the mood to feel something real, it’s going to hit hard.

The full album Collective Ecstasy arrives July 4, but this track already sets the tone for something special. SHOUSE and Vance Joy didn’t just make a song, they made a feeling.
