The time is almost here! We’ve approached the final weeks before the return of Dreamstate SoCal, taking place at a new venue in Long Beach, CA and for the first time, adding techno to the lineup as well.
In order to prepare for the occasion, we put together a list of 10 artists you will definitely be glad you caught over the weekend, guaranteed. To keep it simple, we’ll go with 5 per day in no particular order.
Astrix
Let’s be real, Astrix is always on our lists but that’s because he’s THAT GOOD. The man puts on a masterclass of psychedelic trance each and every year, and he’s definitely earned his place as a mainstay at Dreamstate.
Indira Paganotto
Although we think any techno artist on the lineup is worth a watch, I wanted to include at least 2 in this list since they’re only playing on Friday as part of the Factory 93 collaboration. Indira Paganotto has been on an absolute tear in the hard techno scene. You can tell from this recent Tomorrowland set that her sets contain elements of hard and psychedelic trance.
Paul Van Dyk Presents Solikien
It goes without saying that Paul Van Dyk is a massive trance legend, but this year he has created a new experience called Solikien, which we believe is going to be similar to this set from the summer. Can’t wait to see it ourselves!
Morten Granau
Another psychedelic trance artist for your consideration is Morten Granau. He specializes in Progressive Psytrance, which in our opinion is a more accessible form of the genre for new listeners, and has many parallels with its Progressive House counterpart. He’s collaborated with the likes of Captain Hook, who is also on the lineup.
Fatima Hajji
A force to be reckoned with in techno, Fatima Hajji is known for her intense, high-energy sets. Take it from us, even if you think you aren’t into hard techno, Fatima is an artist that brings that special element that’ll satisfy even the least expecting attendee.
Electric Universe
What’s better than some good psytrance? How about throwing a laser harp into the mix?
That’s right, the psychedelic traveler Electric Universe combines pumped-up psytrance with the visual & musical spectacle that is the laser harp. Very worth checking out even ahead of the show, as we were pleasantly surprised to find this while going through the lineup.
MaRLo
MaRLo is no stranger to us here at DB, or in the trance community. We had to include him here as he’s bringing this Tech Energy set to SoCal. If you’re interested in a lesson in Tech Trance, then look no further. Master MaRLo will show you the way.
Lane 8 & Yotto
No live footage to share here, but we want to point out how unique and rare this B2B between Lane 8 & Yotto is for this event. Both artists have been featured on Anjunadeep releases and events alike, and make some of the prettiest sounding dance music out there. This could be a really good set to catch solely because they both aren’t trance artists.
Key4050
The collaborative effort of John O’ Callaghan & Bryan Kearney, Key4050 is returning to Dreamstate SoCal for the first time since 2019. Since their founding in 2015, they’ve toured the world bringing the best of what trance has to offer to the masses.
Amy Wiles
Making her Dreamstate debut this year, UK-based artist Amy Wiles will also be representing Anjunabeats. Her rise through the past few years has been remarkable, and we are excited to see what she brings to the west coast.
We hope that this list either affirmed who you were thinking of going to see, or showed you some new ones you might not have heard of. This year is going to be quite special!
