Jay Pryor has released “Funk 2 Da,” his newest track and his first on Gorgon City’s Realm Records. Born in Dublin and now based in Los Angeles, Pryor has worked across both dance and pop music, and this release highlights the direction he has been leaning toward in his recent solo work.
“Funk 2 Da” uses a steady bassline and short vocal elements to create a clean, rhythmic pattern. The track is built for movement, keeping the structure tight and direct from start to finish. It first began circulating when Dom Dolla played it in his sets, which eventually led to Realm reaching out to sign the record.
Pryor’s background includes production and writing across a wide range of artists, including Louis Tomlinson, Steve Aoki, ZAYN, Diplo, Niall Horan, Anne-Marie, and Alok. His earlier breakout came from co-producing “Just Hold On,” which went on to surpass 600 million streams and earn multiple platinum certifications.
In his own catalog, Pryor has shifted from melodic crossover material to more house-driven records such as “Say Something,” “Good For Me,” and “Space Jam.” His work has earned support from Dom Dolla, John Summit, Tiësto, Chris Lake, Skream, Gorgon City, Cloonee, and Diplo.
With “Funk 2 Da,” Pryor continues to build a sound that blends his polished production background with club-focused rhythms.
