M42 Let Loose with Industrial-Techno Heater “Gimme That Dirty”

When John Anthony DeJoria and Joey Francis (aka Bad Nonno) linked up to form M42, subtlety clearly wasn’t part of the plan. Their latest release, “Gimme That Dirty,” blends drum and bass grit with techno’s relentless heartbeat- hitting with intent that doesn’t ask for permission.

Operating between Los Angeles and Austin, the duo have carved out a space that’s both polished and unhinged. Their name, pulled from the Orion Nebula (Messier 42), might suggest something celestial, but don’t let that fool you—this music isn’t floating in space, it’s tearing through warehouses at 2AM. “Gimme That Dirty” is loud, mean, and built for the booth. Fuzzy synths, thumping low-end, and just enough vocal grime to keep it unpredictable—this one moves fast and leaves a mark.

Their live credentials back it up. M42 have already shared stages with DVBBS and worked rooftops at SXSW alongside Spinnin’ and Kanary Records.

With “Gimme That Dirty,” M42 deliver exactly what the title promises—and probably more than your monitors can comfortably handle. It’s a track that grabs fast, hits hard, and doesn’t overstay its welcome. Expect to hear this one out in the ether this summer.
