SubDocta’s Almost Cool EP arrives on BTSM’s label as a compact set of tracks built on precise production choices and clear rhythmic structure.
“Compliments” sets the tone with a relaxed house pattern built around steady drums and a nostalgic filter. “Delulu,” his collaboration with Mport, introduces a wobblier bass design and off-center accents that shift the feel of the EP.
“Bodies” shifts into drum & bass, using clipped drums and narrow synths to keep space in the arrangement. The final two songs — “Poison Ivy” and “Girls” — revisit familiar palettes but with adjusted pacing. The tracklist functions like a brief walkthrough of SubDocta’s core sounds without repeating older formulas.
A theme of restraint runs throughout the project. He keeps enough room in each track for the groove to stay clean, even when the production leans heavier.
With Almost Cool, SubDocta continues shaping a sound suited for clubs, festivals, and smaller rooms, with more releases planned for the year.
