After two years of cancellations and an art auction in order to keep operations afloat, Burning Man has begun to see a light out of the tunnel. And with the news that they’ll be able to resume their usual activities next year, festival organizers have announced the theme for 2022: Waking Dreams.
Writing on the official festival website, Stuart Mangrum, Director of the Philosophical Center of Burning Man Project, shared
“[the theme] will explore the transformative power of dreams, both literal and figurative, and celebrate the dreamers who channel this potent energy in eye-opening, often surrealistic, sometimes life-changing ways.”
Next year’s event will also celebrate the first time Burners have been able to come together in three years, with 2020 and 2021 editions officially canceled in order to keep festival-goers safe from COVID-19.
