Fejká has a new one out on Colorize, and it’s a good one. The producer’s latest release, ‘We Were There,’ marks his first original contribution to the label, featuring a hauntingly beautiful vocal performance from Kim Van Loo. The two artists share a deep creative history, having begun their collaborative journey during the global lockdowns. That established familiarity is palpable throughout the track; nothing feels forced, and the production allows the vocal to sit perfectly within the melodic house soundscape.
If you are familiar with Fejká’s discography, you know the drill by now. His signature sound is warm, analogue, cinematic, and patient. Having honed his craft in the Black Forest and benefited from the early mentorship of Christian Löffler, Fejká brings a unique perspective to electronic music. His background in film studies is evident in his production, where every release is treated as a visual and auditory composition. This meticulous approach has already garnered him more than 100 million streams across standout tracks like ‘Svanur,’ ‘Hiræth,’ and ‘Shades of You.’
While this is his first solo original on Colorize, it is not his first time working with the imprint; he previously delivered a remix of Klur’s ‘Apologue’ in 2023. The timing for this debut could not be better, as Fejká prepares to bring his sound to the US for the Colorize North America tour, with upcoming dates scheduled in Toronto and New York.
