It has been a strange year for live music, though collectively, we’ve done a commendable job of making digital lemonade out of cancelled festival lemons. The latest digital event to make the former concertgoer’s weekend less bleak is BLOND:ISH‘s Abracadabra Virtual Festival—and best of all, it’s for a really good cause. While the event is completely free to attend, all of the proceeds from viewer donations will benefit environmental organizations Lonely Whale, Parley for the Oceans, and Bye Bye Plastic, a non-profit founded by BLOND:ISH that’s dedicated to eliminating single use plastics from the music industry by 2025.
On the four-day event’s roster are performances by Snoop Dogg as DJ Snoopadelic, Diplo, Dirtybird factotum Claude VonStroke, Channel Tres, Tycho, Nicole Moudaber, and Robert “Kool” Bell, brother of the late Ronald “Khalis” Bell, among many others. In a press statement describing the new virtual venture, BLOND:ISH explains,
“As an international touring artist affected by Covid-19, it feels like we’re cracking the code in terms of continuing to build a connection with our community and bring them new transformative experiences from afar. Virtual events have greater reach and even more merit than physical ones in some ways, and will give an edge to the human connection we feel when physical events eventually return.”
Running September 17 – 20 exclusively on Twitch, the event is set to feature both a musical lineup and a “self love” lineup including panels, seminars, and more. See the full Abracadabra lineup below.
