Astro Arcade: ZHU, J Balvin, and Katy Perry partner with Pokémon to celebrate 25th anniversary with exclusive merch

Astro Arcade is where the intersection of esports, gaming, and music comes alive. Few things go better together than electronic music and this digital universe, so whether it is a game soundtrack by our favorite artists or a virtual in-game concert series, Astro Arcade is here to keep players and listeners alike informed as these worlds continue to collide.

The Pokémon Company International knows how to stay relevant in pop culture, and the brand is more alive today than ever. Pokémon is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and has partnered with Universal Music Group for Pokémon 25: The Album consisting of 11 tracks from artists including Katy Perry, J Balvin, Mabel, Jax Jones, Lil Yachty, Post Malone, and more. Exclusive merchandise from the artists Pokémon 25: The Album is the latest addition to The Pokémon Company’s celebratory efforts, not to mention multiple remixes of original tracklistings.

ZHU has since remixed three of the album’s singles, “Take It Home” by Mabel, “Wonderful” by Cyn, and “Got ‘Em” by Vince Staples and Trombone Shorty. In addition to releasing songs in honor of the game’s 25th anniversary, Perry, J Balvin, and ZHU worked with the brand to launch exclusive merchandise capsules. Housed within an immersive digital pop-up shop that gives each artist their own section, the merchandise designed by the three artists is available here

ZHU’s collection features several items including a denim jacket, a crew neck, and multiple shirt designs. ZHU featured some of his favorite Pokémon: The Legendary Birds—Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres—as well as Gengar in his capsule. ZHU remains true to form stylistically, keeping the collection black and blending his high-fashion taste with the Pokémon brand.

J Balvin’s collection is comparatively brighter in nature, fusing his signature smiley face logo with Pikachu. The game character even made a star appearance in the music video for his song on the album, “Ten Cuidado.”

Perry’s collection is perhaps the most vibrant, channeling positivity and electricity through the bright colors of its diverse offerings including bucket hats, shirts, a bag, and a vinyl disc. Her music video for “Electric” is on theme, infusing Pokémon throughout.
