Last year, if you’d have turned to your fellow raver in the crowd and told them that in 2020 live music events would move almost entirely online, most would have laughed at you. Or, at least hugged you. Though now, in the post-COVID era, livestream sets are the new normal, and it might be this way for a the foreseeable future. However some artists, like deadmau5, took to streaming well ahead of the curve, and we’re seeing the mau5trap label head keep on step ahead of the pack. Previously, the mau5 had been no stranger to streaming platforms Twitch and Mixer, though now he’s officially marking his residency in a more permanent online location. After dropping hints over the past few weeks, deadmau5 has announced the debut of his own video streaming platform, mau5trap.tv.
Without announcing many details, deadmau5′ Instagram post states the platform is still in its beta phase, however fans can expect more updates in the coming week. The new streaming venture also kicks off with a celebratory two-hour livestream from deadmau5′ established techno moniker, TESTPILOT, taking place on September 4, 2020. Tickets for mau5trap.tv’s debut TESTPILOT livestream can be purchased here.
