EDC’s debut in Portugal will have to wait as Insomniac Events announces that EDC Portugal has been cancelled for a second consecutive year due to “logistics unique to EDC” that will prevent attendees from having the full EDC experience. After its initial reveal in 2020, EDC Portugal was intended to be the return of Insomniac’s flagship festival brand to Europe for the first time since 2016 but was subsequently postponed to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although no information surrounding a future date for EDC Portugal was disclosed with the news, Insomniac is still heading to Portugal one way or another this June, announcing that Secret Project Festival will substitute in for EDC Portugal on the same dates of June 17 – 19 with a lineup that’s specifically geared towards house, techno, and bass music listeners alike. Ticket holders will have the option to either receive a refund or have their ticket automatically transferred over to Secret Project Festival’s first-ever trip to Portugal.
Taking to the beaches of Portimão, Secret Project Festival provides a silver lining to the unfortunate cancellation of EDC Portugal, securing nearly 100 total acts across its three-day schedule, including Eric Prydz as both himself and Cirez D, Charlotte de Witte, Dubfire back-to-back Nicole Moudaber back-to-back Paco Osuna, CamelPhat, Boris Brejcha, Dom Dolla, Tale Of Us, and many more.
Tickets for Secret Project Portugal go on sale Friday, January 28 and will be available here.
