New music from Kendrick Lamar is on the horizon. Announced as a headliner for Roskilde Festival‘s 2021 installment, the acclaimed rapper supposedly has “new material along the way” according to organizers. The appearance will mark Lamar’s third time performing at the Danish event, with the first two in 2013 and 2015 respectively.
Set to run June 26-July 3, Roskilde will celebrate its 50th anniversary with Tyler, The Creator, Thom Yorke, FKA twigs, and more confirmed on the lineup. In the recent announcement of Lamar as its latest headliner, the nonprofit festival stated,
“He is capable of giving a voice to those who might be needing it, and this kind of artist is essential to have right now….Two albums later—and with new material along the way—he is once again ready to take Roskilde Festival’s main stage with a concert that is likely to be one of the absolute highlights of the summer.”
Lamar’s most recent solo studio album DAMN. saw its release in 2017. Rumors of new music circulated earlier this year, with Lamar reported to be shooting a music video in Los Angeles in September.
