First iterated by Charles Dickens, the phrase “never say die” dates back to the mid-19th century and has ventured through literature as one of the most resolute idioms of all time—alluding itself to perseverance, endurance, and above all, resilience. Although Never Say Die Records closed its doors for good on April 2, the imprint’s grit and tenacity will continue permeate throughout dance music as one of the most prominent bass imprints dance music has yet to see.
The label wrote in a statement on social media, “We’re immensely proud of everything the label has done to impact the genre in the way that it has, but the simple truth is that we’ve achieved everything we set out to do (and more) in this industry, and it’s time for the team to move onto other things.”
Never Say Die lent a resounding platform to more than a decade of up-and-coming talent, the iconic label putting on bass music to the masses for 13 years in operation. In that time, NSD housed some of the most emblematic dubstep and bass artists of all time. Founded in 2009 by Tommy Dash, best known as SKisM, and Nick Sadler, also known as Mobscene, Never Say Die has uplifted talent from the likes of Eptic, MUST DIE!, Habstrakt, Dancing Astronaut’s Breakout Artist of 2020 Moore Kismet, Ace Aura, one of DA‘s Artists to Watch in 2022, alongside many more.
Never Say Die ended their statement extending a warm thank you to everyone who has been a part of their journey and ensures fans that their massive catalogue of releases under the scope of the last 13 years will all still be available to stream. For now, sink into the label’s final release with MUST DIE!’s “ANGELWARE” below.
