Paul Oakenfold announces new memoir, ‘Ready Steady Go’

Globally renowned DJ and producer Paul Oakenfold has made quite the iconic mark on the dance industry over a four-decade career, recently announcing the release of his upcoming memoir, Ready Steady Go: My Unstoppable Journey in Dance. Releasing August 18 with Welbeck Publishing, the autobiography dives into Oakenfold’s’ origin story from raving in New York and London clubs in the ’80s to then founding one of the longest-running dance labels, Perfecto Records. His “legendary trip” to Ibiza is also touched on in the forthcoming book, where his passion for trance music was first sparked.

Aside from his chart-topping success, Oakenfold also takes the time to discuss the details of living with dyslexia and how it has shaped his career choices. “In a career like mine, you don’t get many chances to stop and reflect on what you’ve achieved. Writing this book has given me the opportunity to reminisce on the many wild moments in my career, from DJing at Stonehenge and the base camp of Mount Everest, to working with legends like Madonna, U2, and many more, to running my own record label,” Oakenfold said in a statement.

“It’s also made me think more about the crucial personal moments in my life that had more of an impact on me than I first thought, like growing up with dyslexia. That’s something that set me on a creative path that I owe a lot of my career to. I feel privileged to share my life stories with you, and there’s many more already in the making for the next memoir,” added Oakenfold.

Following the release of his newest album Shine On, Ready Steady Go follows the journey of one of dance music’s most enduring veterans, recapping a storied career that continues to forge full steam ahead.
