In “the most difficult decision in [Primavera Sound] history,” organizers have officially postponed the Barcelona festival to 2021. The event, which was due to celebrate its 20th anniversary this spring, will host its next iteration from June 2 – 6, 2021.
The postponement follows Primavera Sound’s earlier coronavirus-related date change. In March, organizers stated that the festival would no longer commence on its original date of June 3, and would instead be held from August 26-30.
“We are devastated and terribly sorry for the inconvenience caused, but the health and well-being of our festivalgoers and of all the people involved in the festival has always been and still is our absolute priority.
We cannot thank you enough for your patience, love, and understanding in this uncertain scenario. We will never forget this.”
Tickets purchased to Primavera Sound 2020 will be honored in 2021, and will come with “special benefits for those who decide to keep them,” according to the Instagram post announcing the festival’s postponement. Alternatively, starting June 3, ticket holders will be able to request a refund. This same day, Primavera Sound will unveil its 2021 lineup.
