Romy Madley Croft, guitarist of the iconic English group, The xx, has announced her first solo album. The news came during a recent Instagram Live session, where Croft not only announced her debut LP, but gave a live performance one “Weightless,” a single from the upcoming release. The album is said to be released under the pseudonym Romy.
Romy describes the album as being upbeat, fun, and taking inspiration from genres like Ibiza house and trance. While she’s mostly known for being a core component of The xx, Croft has continued to grow within the music industry, recently amassing feathers in her cap with behind-the-scenes credits for acts like Mark Ronson, Halsey, and Benny Blanco.
Romy’s announcement comes less than a week after her collaborator, Jamie xx, dropped his first release in years. With that being said, it’s a good week for fans of The xx.
