At long last, Run The Jewels have announced the details for their forthcoming release Run the Jewels 4. The 11-track LP will mark the hip-hop duo’s fourth studio album and features Pharrell Williams, Mavis Staples, 2 Chainz, DJ Premier, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Hommes, and more. Rage Against The Machine‘s Zack de La Rocha also makes a guest appearance on the LP. RTJ was set to hit the road with Rage Against The Machine for a 40-stop reunion tour; the dates have since been rescheduled to 2021. The highly-anticipated record is out June 5 via Jewel Runners/BMG.
The supergroup consisting of Killer Mike and El-P initially hinted at RTJ4 in June 2019, having shared that they linked with Rick Rubin in their newsletter. The album did indeed see most of its recording at Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La Studios and New York City’s Electric Lady Studios.
Ahead of RJ4‘s impending release, the duo have dropped two singles back-to-back in a week, “The Yankee And the Brave (Ep. 4)” and “Ooh LA LA,” with the latter appearing in season finale of Ozark and also receiving a visual treatment. With the release, RTJ revealed they shot the video within weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic and expressed their gratitude in being able to deliver the outcome.
