In the age of COVID-19 and social distancing, musicians have been forced to get creative with performances, largely relying on digital festivals and live-streamed sets to share music with fans. Several artists, however, have taken their virtual experimentation to the next level, creating entire digital landscapes for viewers to explore. Soon, deadmau5 will join the likes of Porter Robinson‘s Secret Sky festival with the creation of a new virtual reality (VR) experience.
On July 17, deadmau5 shared a teaser video on Instagram, whetting appetites for his new project, “Codename: #Oberhasli.” Paired with a mysteriously vague caption reading “a breed of goat,” little is known about the project, except that an oberhasli is, indeed, a breed of goat. The new VR experience will be a collaboration between the producer, Epic Games’ Unreal Engine, Upsurge Studios, and Geodesic Games.
