SoDope commences rollout of ‘Alone In My Dreams’ EP with ‘That Feeling’ on Lowly.

R&B envelops melodic-trap in a warm but wistful embrace on “That Feeling,” a lush rumination that leads the rollout of SoDope‘s forthcoming EP, Alone In My Dreams, to be released via Lowly. Buoyed by a vocal posing the question “Can we get back to that feeling?,” “That Feeling” was born from the New York native’s tiring push to finish Alone In My Dreams.

“It’s easy to get caught up in life’s distractions. We’re all guilty of that sometimes,” he muses. “By the time I got to work on ‘That Feeling,’ I was struggling to finish the EP. All I wanted to do was get back to the music and get back to what makes me feel whole. With this song, my goal was to combine an R&B feel with melodic-trap and, like the rest of the EP, try to create something that could live on its own in the dance space.”

Indeed it does, and there, it thrives as a mature, polished extension of SoDope’s penchant for R&B and soul vocal sampling that dates back to the artist project’s establishment in 2018. Alone In My Dreams will be the A-side of a two-part EP. The B-side, Revenge, will take a darker, heavier approach.
