Amid this near year-long lockdown, virtual performances and livestreamed DJ sets have somewhat quenched our thirst for live events, but right now, something about a timeless archived dance set from the simpler times just hits different. And anytime one can tune into a full, high-quality Daft Punk performance from the early 2000’s, it’s a good day.
Luckily, on November 27 and 28, Japan’s Summer Sonic festival has fans covered, rebroadcasting a wide array of past performances from the festival, with a solid digital lineup of performances slated for the weekend. Daft Punk’s 2006 performance will be shown, along with past sets by Radiohead, Lady Gaga, ZEDD, Kraftwerk, The Chainsmokers, Underworld, The Prodigy, BABYMETAL, and more.
Earlier this year, news of Disney’s TRON 3 plans surfaced, spurring speculation that the French androids might reprise their scoring duties, though it is unclear if Daft Punk will be officially involved in the film as of now. See the full Summer Sonic livestream’s lineup below.
