The highly anticipated JAY-Z 30 residency officially commenced on Friday, July 10, marking the first of three sold-out performances at Yankee Stadium. The evening was a masterclass in hip-hop history, delivering a memorable opening night defined by surprise guest appearances, a career-spanning setlist, and high-fashion statements.
The show opened with a powerful performance alongside Beyoncé for the classic track “Can’t Knock The Hustle.” Throughout the night, the Brooklyn icon treated fans to a curated selection of hits, including “Politics as Usual,” “Brooklyn’s Finest,” “Made In America,” “Dead Presidents,” “Can I Live,” and “Allure.”
The celebration reached new heights as Nas joined the stage for a legendary run of tracks, including “The World Is Yours,” “N.Y. State of Mind,” and “Where I’m From.” Adding a personal touch to the evening, Blue Ivy Carter took to the piano to introduce “Feelin It,” while Alicia Keys made a surprise appearance to deliver a stirring rendition of the New York anthem “Empire State of Mind.” The night also featured appearances by Memphis Bleek and Jaz-O.
The star-studded audience included notable figures such as LeBron James, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kevin Hart, Adrien Brody, Tobey Maguire, Megan Thee Stallion, Jack Dorsey, DJ Khaled, Swizz Beatz, Jadakiss, Kelly Rowland, Vanessa Bryant, Robinson Canó, Fabolous, Sheek Louch, La La, PJ Tucker, Rudy Gay, and OG Anunoby.
Beyond the music, the performance served as a showcase for high-end style. JAY-Z cycled through multiple custom looks, beginning in a Planes baseball cap, a custom CROC jacket by June Ambrose, and his signature Nike Air Force 1s. He later transitioned into a sophisticated Givenchy suit before concluding the night in a workwear-inspired ensemble paired with Timberland boots.
The historic residency continues with JAY-Z 25 on July 11, followed by the finale, JAY-Z Extra Innings, on July 12.
