How ‘Beyond The Chair’ Founders, Trishonna Helm & Destine Patton Aligned To Scale Businesses as Entrepreneurs

Beyond The Chair founders, Trishonna Helm and Destine Patton operate their full service agency to help beauty service providers build and scale their business.

Prior to finding the agency, both Helm and Patton were well into their entrepreneurial journeys. Patton, also known as Sidity Des, began selling hair as a college student, while Helm operated Mixins, an ice cream business, which is set to re-open later this month.

The alignment for Helm and Patton would come from mutual friends and social media. The two quickly bonded over their similar upbringing as well as a likemindedness for business. The friendship would lead to the beginning of their agency and podcast.

According to the Beyond The Chair founders, the collaborate on brand ideas with Patton leading the way.

“All of my ideas come to me in my sleep,” says Patton.

The podcast is based on an education and entertainment model. While Patton and Helm discuss hilarious trending topics, they also teach beauty culturist how to go from behind the chair to a world of entrepreneurship. Transparency is a high priority for both Trish and Des and it helps to keep their business and personal relationship in tact.

“We can easily talk about and work out our differences because of that transparency,” says Helm. “We also agree that business come first. It helps to keep our friendship in tact.”

Beyond The Chair recently spent time at Essence Festival of Culture this past weekend, where they spoke with entrepreneurs on their experience as they scale their businesses. They even caught up with Love & Hip-Hop’s, Yandy Smith on her balance as a mother, wife and entrepreneur.

For Trishonna Helm and Destine Patton, they will only continue to expand their reach in education and entertainment. As their podcast grows, they plan to open a podcast agency and build out a space where creators can come and record their content and expand their reach and impact.

In addition, property equity is a priority for them as well. Patton has a strong history operating short term Airbnb rentals and even took it a step further with publishing, Sidity’s Ultimate Airbnb Guide last July.
