Frankyeffe’s Riot Recordings presents the latest artist to join its roster, as the record label’s new release delivers a two-track techno EP by Ilona Maras.
Ilona Maras is an eclectic artist living in Switzerland, and this release showcases the darker and more industrial side of her style. Not only has she featured on other techno labels including Reinier Zonneveld’s Filth on Acid, but she has also released house tracks on the likes of Get Physical.
Switzerland is Ilona Maras adopted home, but she is originally from Montenegro. Currently based in Zürich, this fiery release has raw drum sounds and stabbing synth chords that play intense melodies.
“Intention Energy” is the release’s title cut, and it’s an intense track with brutal claps and hypnotic chords at the core of the groove. It’s got a menacing vibe and an unrelenting energy that is guaranteed to keep the dance floor moving from start to finish. “Am I Doing Right” is the second track on this release, and it follows a similar formula to its predecessor with explosive drums and old-school synth chords creating a powerful energy.
Overall, this is an impressive techno release that’s reminiscent of other artists such as Marco Faraone, Gary Beck and Christian Smith.
