Sanchez’s impressive production style, influenced by the underground house scene in NYC, which he grew up surrounded by, has led to huge collaborations and remixes for the best musicians globally.
The single’s accompanying music video is nothing short of spectacular. Step into a world where rhythm knows no bounds and diversity takes center stage! In this vibrant and uplifting music video, every beat celebrates unity and joy where people of all backgrounds come together to groove to the infectious melodies of “So Hype.”
As an accomplished singer/music producer in her own right (and featured on Junior’s upcoming album), video director Lauren Hashian declared, “My favorite part of working on this video was that Mýa and Junior came ready to play and have fun. They helped write the skit and hone in on the creative story. They’re so iconic in their respective musical genres. We decided to forego your typical extra casting. Instead, we called our own friends and colleagues who are dancers and performers out here in LA to fill the club scene, and the camaraderie, talent, and energy on set was beautiful!”
Legendary R&B star Mýa adds, “With its catchy bass line and colorful visuals, this music video isn’t just about listening — it’s about living in the moment, feeling the rhythm deep within your soul and letting it unite us all in a harmonious symphony of happiness. So grab your friends and join the party where everyone is welcome!”
Regarding the music video, Junior adds, “So Hype” bursts with vibrant colors, perfectly capturing the song’s essence. It embodies everything I envisioned in a visual accompaniment: fun, humor, and talent showcase. As my debut acting comedic venture, it’s an incredible display complementing the single seamlessly. Moreover, it uplifts various vital communities, including our dance music culture and LGBTQIA+ friends.”
From being a founding member of Da Mongoloids production collective with the likes of Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk, A-Trak, Basement Jaxx, and Armand Van Helden, to name a few, to creating The S-Men with DJ Sneak & Roger Sanchez, and more recently launching his Freqazoids project with UK producer Dance System, Junior has been influential at the forefront of the global house music scene for more than two decades.
Add in his writing credits with Azealia Banks, Katy Perry, Good Charlotte, and Green Velvet and remixing for Daft Punk, Madonna, Shakira, and Ariana Grande, and it’s clear that Junior Sanchez’s range is limitless.
Now, he works again with R&B star Mýa, an acclaimed triple-threat singer, dancer, and actor whose music has topped the charts in the US, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Ireland, the UK, and more. Together, the two unveil ‘So Hype’ on the London house label, an explosive party starter bursting with nostalgia. It showcases Mýa’s agile vocals over Sanchez’s sleek, uplifting, and funk-laden production skills; look out for more to come from Junior Sanchez on D4 D4NCE in 2024.
