Kanye West makes history once again.
The music and fashion mogul recently held a listening event for his 10th upcoming album DONDA, last Thursday in Atlanta. Live Nation announced the event the Monday prior, where fans rushed to pack the 71,000 seated arena. The packed event nearly hit that mark. If you were able to attend, then you know.
Kanye West walked out onto the stadium’s platform, dripped in all red. He even teased the red colorway to his YZY Gap jacket collection, which has already been available for public purchase in Black and Blue. The album played and Ye embraced the crowd’s energy and vice versa. He danced, gave thanks and seemed extremely grateful to receive the love from his supporters.
The album features Travis Scott, Lil Baby, Roddy Ricch, Don Toliver, Pusha T Lil Durk, Baby Keem and more. Yeezy took the crowd by storm when he featured a Jay-Z verse on one of the tracks as well. According to Hov’s longtime engineer, Young Guru, he recored the verse hours prior to its premiere.
The event was live-streamed on Apple Music, where it apparently broke records on the streaming platform with 3.3 million viewers. While the album was set to release on Friday, July 23, he decided to push the album back two weeks. It is now set to release on August 6th.
While some did not understand Ye’s listening experience without dropping the album, Jermaine Dupri took to Twitter to set the record straight.
Now Kanye and his team are apparently living in Mercedes Benz stadium in order to finish DONDA.
