Microsoft Reveal Some of the Specs and Features for Upcoming Xbox Series X Console

Are you ready for the next-gen war to begin? Looks like Microsoft is ready and is finally dropping some info about their new system.

Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox Series X will not only have more graphics power and a solid-state drive for faster loading but will also be backward compatible with all the previous generations of Xbox games, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said in a blog post-Monday.

Powering the Xbox Series X is a custom processor using RDNA 2 and Zen 2 architectures from AMD. This will make the system four times faster than the Xbox One and give it the ability to achieve 12 teraflops, which is double what the Xbox One X could do.

On game compatibility, Spencer promises that all Xbox One games – as well as 360 and original Xbox games already supported by Xbox One – will work on Series X, and will benefit from the better hardware.

Xbox Games Pass, Microsoft’s on-demand subscription game streaming service, will receive some upgrades on the new system including steadier frame rates and improved audio and visuals.

Overall, everything will look and play better on the new console.

It’s been seven years since the last Xbox was released as well as the last Playstation 4. The fall of 2020 will be a pivotal one for video game console supremacy. No word to when the Xbox Series X will launch, but knowing Microsoft’s track record, expect the new console to drop between September and November.
