Synymata And The Arcturians Connect On Sweeping Melodic Dubstep Collaboration “Used To Be So Strong”

Synymata makes his return to Lost In Dreams alongside Canadian singer and production pair The Arcturians with an epic collaboration. “Used To Be Strong” is a reflective melodic bass ballad bursting with emotion.

The track serves as the second single off Synymata’s forthcoming debut album and follows the lead single “Already Numb” with Egzod and Josh Rubin.

Blending pain and perseverance, “Used To Be Strong” is a heart-rending effort seeded from self-awareness. Fronted by an enthralling and vulnerable topline, the vocals bare The Arcturians vocalist’s soul. The lyrics drift between scenes of darkness, insecurity, uncertainty, and a sense of hopeful resilience. Wistful piano and echoing chords lay the sonic foundation, deepening the shadowy yet moving soundscape. Towering drum-driven builds give way to an epic expulsion of emotions, as heavenly synths wail with a hint of multi-tone glitch. The captivating lyrics, “I used to be so strong,” act as an epic chorus that blurs two distinct feelings. It’s an admission of the distance between a former and current version of oneself, while also serving as a reminder of the inner strength that’s still hidden within. As the production shifts through the track, the latter begins to shine brighter, offering a sense of promise beyond the dark clouds.

Synymata opens up about the meaning behind the release, saying, “‘Used To Be So Strong’ is a retrospective on one’s struggle and inner turmoil with past experiences. The lyrics convey a journey of falling, facing despair, and dealing with the pain that has left visible marks. The song also touches on the idea of trying to break free from the hold that these struggles have, with a resolve to not let them control one’s life anymore.”
