Back in 2016, YG linked with Nipsey Hussle to release “FDT (F**k Donald Trump).” The DJ Swish produced track was in dedication to denounce current president of the United States. With Hip-Hop at the pulse of pop culture, the track resulted in being one of many songs to define the 2010s decade. YG’s political stance in “FDT” helped to display his motive in assuring the lack of trust in the then Republican nominee for POTUS.
Behind the boards of that groundbreaking track was DJ Swish. As an LA native, Swish took advantage of his surroundings by linking with artists from the city. His work with frequent collaborator RJ, caught the attention of the Still Brazy rapper and the rest was history. Since then DJ Swish has produced on a number of tracks on YG’s albums since 2014.
The Grammy-nominated producer also tapped in with Post Malone for his 2018 album, Beerbongs & Bentleys. He explains that he started the initial track for “Same B**ches” with Posty back in 2016. His initiative is the sole reason for the song’s placement onto the track-list of a Grammy-nominated project. Swish had collaborated with G-Eazy and YG in the past, so he received verses from both artists and sent it back to Post to make a standout track.
“I had to make them want to put that record out,” said Swish in our phone conversation.
In addition to the aforementioned collabs, DJ Swish has produced tracks for Roddy Ricch, Denzel Curry, Day Sulan, Dreezy and more. His diversity in production is one full display on collaborations with R&B artists such as Danileigh, Kiana Lede and Mitch.
After receiving a Grammy-nomination, DJ Swish wants the Grammy Award to become tangible. Until then he continues to crank out bangers from behind the boards. Supporters can expect a Dreezy and ASAP Ferg collaboration coming soon with production from the multi-platinum producer himself.
