Xavi Fuses Midwest Emo With Melodic Bass On Emotive Single “Sequel”

Making his triumphant return to Lost In Dreams, Chicago-based producer Xavi unveils the emotive new ballad “Sequel.”

The track marks his first standalone single with the label and follows “Justwanna,” which arrived on the ‘Gateway Vol, 3’ compilation, and his remix of Taylor Kade’s “Love You Like That.”

“Sequel” is the perfect addition to Xavi’s ever-impressive catalog of weighty emotional dance music. Welcomed with waves of distortion, the short and minimalistic introduction resets listeners’ minds before opening up to the impassioned vocals that anchor the track. The Midwest emo-inspired vocals intertwine nostalgia and raw emotion for a truly captivating pull. Ethereal melodies and oscillating vox synths drift behind, swelling the feelings before snappy drums ready ease into the powerful drops. Erupting with a torrent of melodic bass imbued with fuzzy distortion, it offers a truly cathartic release of everything that’s been held inside. The chopped breaks present a feeling of dizzying realization that perfectly bleeds into the impassioned finale. Closing out the track with a stripped-back outro, offering a calm and reflective end that amplifies the impact of the raw yet touching vocals.

Xavi shares his excitement around the release, saying, “‘Sequel’ was a song made to be a release of emotion, and the wall of sound behind this track emphasizes its hard energy. I hope the song sounds like a release, a burst of raw feeling as its drop hits the listener. Lost in Dreams is a dream label of mine, and holds both artists that inspire me and artists I consider good friends on their roster. I’m honored to join them.”

Chicago-based Xavi has been impressing fans with his emotional electronic approach and astonishing range, blending elements of melodic dubstep, electronica, trap, melodic bass, ambient and experimental pop. He has upcoming performances at Lost In Dreams festival and Beyond Wonderland Chicago. The sets build upon past high-profile dates including support for Seven Lions on the ‘Pantheon; Tour, playing Nocturnal Wonderland, and opening for ARMNHMR.

“Sequel” mixes emo-influence with an inventive electronic backbone for an exceptional emotional release.
