Xotix Teams Up With Hip-Hop Phenom Pure Powers On Experimental West Coast Bass Single “Wook Rocket”

Northern California’s Xotix are making their triumphant return to Bassrush Records with the heavy-hitting experimental bass anthem “Wook Rocket,” featuring fellow NorCal vocalist Pure Powers.

The track marks Xotix’s fourth release on the label following their collaborative 3-track ‘Rabbit Hole’ EP alongside Secret Recipe, their Shanghai Doom collaboration “Wook Flu,” and their recent track “Elevate,” which arrived on the ‘Prophecy Vol 7’ compilation.

Blasting off with force, “Wook Rocket” is an explosive banger that expertly mixes underground rap with trap and experimental bass. Pure Powers’ vocals take center stage from the outset, mixing braggadocious bars with vivid imagery that expands on the track’s exploration theme. The fierce bars glide over the rubbery rap beats before reaching escape velocity. The drops blast off into another dimension with chirping synth leads, metallic springlike stabs, clanking percussion, distorted bottom-end, and a whole world of leftfield flavor. The namesake vocals are looped and bent to create an anthemic yet gritty aesthetic. Mind-bending sound design and spacey flourishes simulate skyrocketing through the cosmos while Powers’ raps keep things grounded. Finding the perfect balance between experimental and approachable, “Wook Rocket” is an absolute weapon.

Speaking on the meaning behind their new single, Xotix says, “‘Wook Rocket’ is a celebration of weirdness and chaos; it’s is an anthem that honors the uniqueness we all carry.”

Hailing from North California, Xotix is a production pair specializing in mind-bending dubstep and experimental bass music. The rising stars have become favorites among the industry, landing press support from top-tier outlets like This Song Is Sick, FUXWITHIT, Heard It Here First, EDM Identity, Electric Hawk, Compose Yourself Magazine, and The Untz. They will be supporting Liquid Stranger on his ‘Expansion’ Tour with upcoming stops at The Sylvee and Old National Centre. The duo has already played some of the biggest festivals in bass music.

The Grouch of Living Legends, California-born, Hawaii-raised and Santa Rosa-based rapper Pure Powers has been making his name known in the West Coast festival scene and well beyond. The ever-talented vocalist has toured and collaborated with a head-turning range of hip-hop heavyweights from the likes of Iration, Atmosphere, Del The Funky Homosapien, and Hieroglyphics, in addition to previously hitting the road with leftfield bass mastermind Shlump. From his energetic performances to his sharp bars, Pure Powers continues to impress every time he picks up a mic.

Fusing rap and experimental bass with expert finesse, “Wook Rocket” is an instant anthem from galaxies beyond.
