Coachella 2024 just wrapped up which means Lightning In A Bottle fever is in the air! Although both festivals are ran by completely separate entities, their relationship is extremely apparent to those who have attended Coachella.
DoLab is responsible for creating some of the most iconic left field moments on the Polo Fields via their DoLab stage. The relationship works because Coachella always falls in April and Lightning In A Bottle always hits on Memorial Day Weekend; over a month later. So in theory – if you’ve attended Coachella you should have been heavily advertised to attend LIB. What better way to charge back up all that lost serotonin?
We know that this year’s Lightning In A Bottle lineup is insanely strong on its own. It almost doesn’t need Coachella at this point! Many Coachella veterans and Goldenvoice favorites are sprinkled throughout this bill and we couldn’t be more excited.
Here’s our top five acts to catch during your trip to Buena Vista Lake California!
1. Tipper
Dave Tipper is a British composter who specializes in psychedelic trip hop and experimental bass music. His first release dates back to the late 90’s but his legacy is immortalized through his many albums and unique bass sets. Even with his arsenal of released music, your average Tipper set is filled with tons of tracks that have never been released. Tipper recently announced his retirement from music, so Lightning In A Bottle will be his final West Coast performance.
2. Skream (Dubstep Set)
Skream absolutely broke the internet with a viral video of him performing a throwback dubstep set at the DoLab stage at Coachella. Since then the world has had a high demand for the return of dubstep Skream. What better way to celebrate his return to roots than with a dubstep set at LIB?
3. Floating Points
Samuel Shepherd aka Floating Points is one of the greatest experimental electronic musicians of our generation. His skills as a DJ, musician, composer, and producer have far exceeded any expectations of a solo artist in the realm of electronic music. He is well known for his collaborative sets playing B2B with Four Set, Caribou, and as recently as Jamie XX [Coachella Weekend 1 2024]. His discography is full of variety and we highly recommend digging in. Here’s one of our favorite live performances.
4. Forin
Here’s a local artist that you may not have seen on the main lineup drop. Forin hails from England but is based out of Los Angeles. He will be performing on The Stacks stage this year. His style is extremely forward-thinking but stays in the realm of DnB and bass music. We’ve seen many renegade sets from this artist at festivals in the Mojave Desert, so it’ll be awesome to see what he brings to the table at a major music festival.
5. Justin Martin
A legend in his own right, Justin remains one of the best festival bookings for house music. His sets are full of trippy melodic dance tracks with cutting drums, break beats, and hints of DnB bass lines. If you stand in the crowd during a Justin Martin set you’ll find tons of attendees feeling love, happiness, and connection. There’s not many people who bring out positivity the way Justin can. We are most excited to hear some upcoming releases from his What To Do label.
