Not to sound cliché but Hardwell genuinely hasn’t removed his foot from the gas pedal thus far in 2023. Just hours before he flipped Bayfront Park upside down with arguably the most memorable hour of Ultra weekend, the Revealed Recordings boss took to his Instagram story to tease that an official remix of Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding‘s third meeting would be unleashed that evening. And in the time since it became the single favorite moment for many during Hardwell’s annual return to downtown Miami, his reimagining of “Miracle“—his second solo rework since his comeback—hadn’t received a release update. That was until an Ultra video of it was shared to the Dancing Astronaut Instagram (a nice little pat on our back), with Calvin Harris quickly chiming in that it was actually getting the green light just a few days later.
Hardwell explained that when his Rebels Never Die tour made a stop at Ushuaïa Ibiza this past summer, he ran into someone. And after reconnecting with Harris and talking about music, it eventually led to Harris requesting the bigroom-techno king’s remix services. With eight tracks already to his credit in the year’s first four months—including an ongoing EP rollout that will complete on April 21 with one of Dancing Astronaut‘s most-anticipated IDs of 2023—Hardwell has truly one-upped himself with track number nine. And in doing so, Hardwell takes the ’90s Eurodance heart from Harris and Goulding’s original and implants it with an euphoria-doused wave of heart-pumping trance that had some previously suggesting it had all the potential to take home ASOT’s annual tune of the year award when the time comes, taking “Miracle” to an entirely different height of perfection. And his take on “Miracle” likely won’t be his last of the year, with him having just debuted a version of John Summit and Hayla’s “Where You Are“—although there’s no HQ video at the time of writing—during his appearance in Bangkok. While we now wait for “Judgement Day” to arrive in exactly a week’s time, stream Hardwell’s “Miracle” remix in full below.
