Robert Pattinson made ambient electronic music in character as Batman

In preparation for the role of a lifetime, Robert Pattinson has disclosed that he is now making ambient electronic music while in costume during the upcoming film The Batman, premiering this coming March 4. The star superhero told GQ in a recent interview,

“The nature of the shoot was so kind of insular, always shooting at night, just really dark all the time, and I felt very much alone. Even just being in the suit all the time. You’re not really allowed out of the studio with the suit on, so I barely knew what was going on at all outside.”

Sat stationary for hours in the small tent he was offered when he was not needed on-screen, Pattinson revealed that it was no easy task to read, much less do anything else, while in the iconic costume. Says Pattinson,

“I’d be in the tent just making ambient electronic music in the suit, looking over the cowl [mask]. There’s something about the construction of the cowl that makes it very difficult to read books, so you have to kind of almost lean forward to see out of the cowl.”

Shot in London, the film—which skews toward a 1970s detective feel according to Pattinson and director Matt Reeves—will also showcase South London’s venerated nightclub Printworks, as seen in the trailer released earlier this year.
