When Anyma introduced his “Genesys” concept show at Printworks this past November, the dance music scene—and music world as a whole—erupted with pure awe and wonder. Many have likely seen the trapped robot visual for it at this point when Anyma opened the evening with “Eternity,” a follow-up collaboration with Dancing Astronaut‘s Artists to Watch for 2023, Chris Avantgarde. Avantgarde was one-half of arguably Afterlife’s single biggest release in 2022—”Consciousness”—and both he and Anyma knew an eventual successor to one of Dancing Astronaut‘s Top Tracks of 2022 was in order. And it was only right that turned into one of Dancing Astronaut‘s most-anticipated IDs of the following year, with the two officially running it back and yielding “Eternity.”
Just as sonically enticing as their first go-around, “Eternity”—originally debuted during Tomorrowland’s first weekend—circulated wide and far across social media as what amounted as melodic-techno’s prevailing fan-favorite ID in the wake of “The Sign.” Employing Alessandro Devechhi‘s visually stunning artwork, Anyma and Avantgarde have similarly designed a picturesque piece of musical art, stimulating both the eyes and the ears. As the progression peaks and the bassline of “Eternity” rolls in, that visual from Printworks sees an artificially intelligent robot attempt to escape its metaphorical enclosure, nearly jumping through the LED panels. Making for a remarkable visual counterpart to an early contender for melodic-techno’s track of the year, Anyma and Avantgarde’s “Eternity” ensures that lightning can strike twice.
