Funkadelic space traveler, Hi Ibiza resident, and Carl Cox’s Purple Party staple, Bender, has finally blessed the world with his first EP of IDs and VIP edits developed over a decade of playing some of the world’s most iconic clubs. The New York producer’s sound has evolved over the years, but his irreverent style and hands in the air approach to production stays true no matter the genre he’s tapping.
On his debut “Hi, My Name is Bender,” he introduces his wide range of styles across three distinctly different singles. First up is “One More Day” a throwback to the early 80s that pairs addictive house hooks with a sample from the Wilson Phillips smash hit that is guaranteed to tug on your nostalgic heart strings. Bender then follows things up with a cheeky nod to a classic comedy — Austin Powers — and begs the question “Do I Make You Horny?” on another club-friendly output. And then there’s “Malaguena” named for the sultry Spanish dance that delivers a South American flair to the well-rounded 3-track outing.
If you haven’t met Bender before, now’s the time to get yourself acquainted.
