Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival is set to launch a virtual spin-off festival that is set to take place from September 24 – 26. Following a forced cancellation amid the COVID-19 crisis, the festival has announced a virtual event called Bonnaroo Presents: Virtual ROO-ALITY.
The lineup for the digital festival includes a diverse array of live performances from the likes of CloZee, A-Trak, Big Gigantic, Charli XCX, Chromeo, and more. Archived performances will include Metallica’s 2008 performance, The xx‘s 2017 headline, Run The Jewels‘ 2015 set and of course The Beastie Boys’ unforgettable final performance in 2009.
Lollapalooza came to life in a similar way after doing virtual spin-off festival Lolla2020. They too curated a lineup that mixed archival performances and live virtual performances. Bonnaroo has also announced the event’s 2021 dates in the hopes that festivals will be back by June 2021. Those looking to tune in to Virtual ROO-ALITY can do so on the festival’s YouTube channel.
