Madrid’s Mad Cool Festival was originally scheduled to kick off on July 8, but like many other live events, festival organizers were forced to postpone the event to 2021 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. In honor of what would have been the first day of the festival, Mad Cool festival coordinators have released the 2021 lineup.
The festival organizers have promised to roll over as many of the artists slated for the 2020 edition as they can while adding new names to the lineup, and they have done just that. Headliners of Mad Cool’s 2021 comeback include Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, and Mumford & Sons, among others. Twenty-One Pilots, Major Lazer, and ALT-J, along with a slew of other artists, have also been tapped to perform. Diplo, Four Tet, Nina Kraviz, and Hayden James represent just some of Mad Cool’s dance selections beyond Major Lazer.
2020 headliners who do not figure on the 2021 lineup include Kings of Leon, Taylor Swift, and Billie Eilish. Organizers specifically apologized for being unable to make the 2021 booking with Taylor Swift work with her schedule, as many 2020 festival goers had inquired about the chances of Swift reappearing in 2021. Mad Cool Festival is set to take place on July 7 – 10, 2021. Tickets may still be purchased here.
