By March 2020, dozens of festivals had fallen victim to cancellations or postponements due to COVID-19, but the news that Movement Detroit wouldn’t touch down in the birthplace of techno across Memorial Day weekend (as it had for the previous 14 years) hit particularly hard for many of the festival’s die-hard fans.
Along with other pillars in the circuit like EDC Las Vegas and Ultra Miami, Movement is a defining festival for dance music every year. Whereas some events flaunt their size (both big and small) and others cling to their picturesque locale, Movement is built on a foundation of techno in a manner that can only be described as historic.
Yet Movement is still living up to its reputation this Memorial Day with Movement At Home. All weekend, some of the world’s best house and techno DJs will be on the decks doing what they love as they would’ve been doing on stage at Hart Plaza.
So many Detroit natives are on the roster including Carl Craig, Seth Troxler, Claude VonStroke, and a joint set from Kevin Saunderson and his son Dantiez. Beyond that, renowned favorites like Anna, Loco Dice, and Ellen Allien will contribute sets as well.
The music starts on Saturday, May 23, and will go through to Monday, May 25. Check out the full lineup below, and head to Movement.us for the streaming links. The stream will benefit the Musicares COVID-19 relief fund.
