Spring Awakening‘s Cancún run will no longer be returning in 2022 due to concern from the Omnicron variant. The four-day festival was expected to take place from January 13 – 17 at Grand Oasis Cancún, with Dillon Francis, GRiZ, and Zeds Dead serving as the festival’s headliners.
Hosted by the global livestream platform and promoter LiveOne, the cancellation of Spring Awakening Cancún acts as the second major loss for the company due to COVID variants. In October, the festival’s edition held in Chicago, Spring Awakening Music Festival: Autumn Equinox, was impacted by the Delta variant and lightning. LiveOne faced a $3 million loss on their Chicago festival due to having to evacuate the festival grounds for a time due to storms and lightning.
